For the first time since Total Request Live ruled the airways in the late 90’s and early 00’s, MTV will again dedicate airtime to playing music. Beginning September 15th, MTV will air a weekly live-music series called Wonderland. The series’ ten-episode first season will focus on live performances from various musicians. It will be hosted by hip-hop and pop artist Lizzo, Rachael Finley and Myke Wright. The first episode will feature music from Tinashe, Ty Dolla $ign and Broods. It will also be available for viewing on Facebook Live and MTV.com.

Many millennials should be happy to hear that MTV is at least dipping its toes back into its music roots. These days, MTV is a plethora of reality and dating shows. While no one is expecting Wonderland to change the landscape of the channel, it will be refreshing for people who still tune into the channel to enjoy a changeup. Could this be a sign of things to come for MTV? Or will it be the only music show in a sea of reality TV fights. Only time will tell.
