Rumors are a lot of fun. And, with the presence of the Internet and social media, they run more rampant now than ever before. When hearing an exciting rumor, however, it’s important to tamper your expectations on its validity. That’s why when Daniel Radcliffe claims that he’s “never going to close the door” on reprising his iconic role as a grown up Harry Potter in the latest installment of the Harry Potter series Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, we can’t get too excited; or can we?
Since Harry Potter and the Cursed Child takes place late in Potter’s life, Radcliffe is too young to play that role anytime soon. However, when he gets a bit older, he may find himself again filling those shoes.
When speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Radcliffe stated, “I’m never going to close the door; that would be a stupid thing to do. But I think I’ll be happy enough and secure enough to let someone else play it. At the moment it’s not even a concern because I’m too young to play the character, but even in 10 years’ time I would still feel strange about going back to it.”
So, while Radcliffe isn’t necessarily confirming anything, hearing he’s open to reprising the role is enough to get us excited. Radcliffe’s Harry Potter is an important part of the Harry Potter Universe and any more time he could play in that role we’re on board for.
